Yesterday I referenced my recent discussions with CIOs and the requirement to deliver financial transparency to prove value to the business in my blog "Transform your delivery with Financial Management or you will be out of business!" This morning going through the sessions for CA World I came across the session to be delivered by Erik Feldman called "Using Metrics to better discover, manage and charge for your Cloud Services." Now I don't want to give away all the content here but needless to say Eric will go through the connection between IT metrics and business measures. Eric will discuss a methodology for the effective and efficient collection of metrics and parlaying them into effective cost parameters using real world examples including one excellent parallel to the airline session.

This session will be held at 4pm PT Monday Nov. 14. If you are at CA World you will want to get this session on your agenda.   Look for me at the back of the room tweeting away!

IT Professionals often think of metrics as a means of measuring system performance, often without a relationship to how those metrics are used to run the business. In this presentation, you will learn how to understand the business connection to IT metrics, how to identify what metrics are meaningful and appropriate, and the use of a suitable proxy for Service Management. This includes a review of how other technology industries use proxies for service measurement, management, capacity planning, and finance
