"Individual execution is one thing, organizational execution is everything." This statement from Jim "Murph" Murphy, the Founder and CEO of Afterburner, Inc., encapsulated the vibe of the inaugural ISACA World Congress, INSIGHTS 2011 in Washington DC last month.
Unlike most events I have participated in, INSIGHTS 2011 was a gathering of senior IT and business executives and instead of "all Powerpoint, all the time" it was an event designed to allow the attendees access to the executives who so gladly gave of their time and shared their experiences. All the attendee's had to do was ask, and ask they did!
You can read more of my comments on my ISACA Blog or if you're in a hurry, take a few minutes to view the video. You can also read the blogs I wrote while at the event. The first, INSIGHTS 2011 - ISACA World Congress is underway! , detailed the opening keynote and the second; Focus on the target is critical! went into even greater detail on the learnings from Afterburner and how to relate the content to your daily role.
If you missed INSIGHTS 2011, don't worry. We will be gathering in San Francisco in June 2012 for an event that I can promise will surpass this year! Bookmark the World Congress site for frequent updates.
