Connecting business processes to governance for better service delivery

While I was in India earlier this year at the ISACA Asia Pacific Conference in Mumbai, India, one of the topics that were discussed in many sessions and with the press was the ongoing quest for business and IT alignment. The fundamental missing step is an understanding of how to show value or for many IT people an understanding of what the business considers value.

Value is changing from the 24/7/365 availability that is now considered a mandatory requirement. In the future, value will be measured by the delivery of the service for an acceptable cost at an appropriate level, with ease of use being one of the fundamental requirements. This is a significant component of IT Governance which is more than compliance or delivering against technical service levels. It is about understanding the end-to-end business process and how technology, whether delivered internally, externally or a combination of both are used to deliver the business process.

I recently recorded an interview discussing connecting business processes to IT Governance for better service delivery. I encourage you to take a few minutes to look at my interview  on the BizTech2 Web site and let me know what you think.
