This week my travels take me to Oslo, Norway for the itSMF Norwegian conference. The theme of the event is "ITIL with a little help from my friends." The conference will be attended by over 500 industry professionals and will focus on driving ITSM implementations beyond your basic incident and problem management to ensure business and IT integration. My session topic is using COBIT and ITIL together to manage the governance of your ITSM implementation which leverages the information provided in the ISACA publication COBIT User Guide for Service Managers which provides guidance for service managers using both frameworks together.

The ISACA publication includes not only how to get started with COBIT and ITIL for successful service management, core guidance is provided in the form of:

  • Key activities of a service manager organized by ITIL V3 processes
  • Corresponding COBIT 4.1 control objectives
  • Corresponding ISO/IEC 20000 references
  • Roles and responsibilities for a generic range of role players in the various processes

The publication is available for purchase in hardcopy on the ISACA website and is a free PDF download for ISACA members.

Stay tuned for a webcast of this much requested session.
