This morning at CA World, the Governance Group presented Rabobank Nederland, Metro Wastewater Reclamation District, and the Colorado Department of Human Services with the 2008 Governance VIP Awards for Vision, Impact and Progress, respectively, based on the many successes these companies have achieved through their governance initiatives over the past year.

Rabobank Nederland was presented with the Vision Award, recognizing success in developing Governance excellence and demonstrating a clear vision about how this effort supports overall enterprise success.

Rabobank is a cooperative organization, with over 161 independent local banks and an international network linked by a central business organization. This distributed model relies upon an extensive and complex IT infrastructure to connect the business. Rabobank also relies upon IT to support its innovative business model. It is the leader in the Netherlands for banking through the Internet and by mobile phone.

Rabobank initially deployed CA Clarity PPM, our project and portfolio management solution, in 2004 to streamline resource management and to improve overall project management, starting with about 35 resource managers. Since that time, the company has integrated Clarity with its SAP system and extended its use thousands of employees in IT, finance, legal and HR.

Management now has a "single source of truth," allowing them to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize operations. By ensuring they are doing the right things, and doing things the right way, Rabobank has gained a competitive advantage.

Metro Wastewater Reclamation District was presented with the 2008 Impact Award, which recognizes results from greater Governance, including benefits like increased productivity, greater financial return and improvements in quality and customer satisfaction.

The Metro District is a water treatment agency with 350 employees that manages a 220 million-gallons-per-day capacity plant with a 390-square mile service area.

The Metro District Records Management Group provides a centralized system to store, access and discover critical information through seven related Records Management programs that access 15 hardcopy archives and 18 electronic file repositories.

In order to better manage their records, the Group decided to implement CA Records Manager software to provide district-wide access to all records information. They also wanted to incorporate all physical and digital records and emails into a single system.

By implementing CA Records Manager, the Metro District has been able to become dramatically more productive, efficient and effective.

The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) was presented with the 2008 Progress Award, recognizing organizations that have achieved outstanding Governance implementation success or process improvements from their Governance initiatives.

CDHS is the second largest agency in Colorado State Government, and a CA customer since 1997. Many of its public services, such as the distribution of food assistance and the calculation of cash benefits, are dependent on the agency's IT infrastructure.

CDHS leverages several CA solutions throughout its organzation, including Clarity PPM and CA GRC Manager. Clarity PPM is used to help manage ideas, projects, and efforts initiated by their internal work groups and by program area customers. The solution not only helps to identify project resource issues but also improves communication and financial transparency.

CDHS is also deploying CA GRC Manager to map IT risks to specific regulations, such as HIPAA, and other State and Departmental policies. CDHS can better manage security risk through a unified approach that incorporates automation and continuous monitoring of underlying IT controls, as well as manage these risks to business goals and objectives.
