It's time for CIOs to stop hiding in the Data Centre and start leading from the front. I recently spoke at CEBIT Australia about how the CIO role is transforming from one of an information technology leader to the leader of innovation within the business.
I also spoke to Sky News Australia about how cloud computing is enabling this transition from information to innovation for technology leaders of today.
My view is that business savvy CIOs are moving away from maintaining technology and are focusing on delivering business focused initiatives and those CIOs are embracing the cloud to do this.
Today's CEOs along with their leadership team need to deliver revenue growth, innovation, new products and services, expand the business into new geographies and so on. The executive best placed to drive these initiatives is the CIO. By transforming their current technology base, existing, capacity, resources, process and time can be re-allocated to drive innovation. Cloud can help do this, by careful allocation of applications and infrastructure to the cloud, those newly released resources to driving business growth.
