To ITIL® V3 and Beyond: Travels with Rob Stroud

Travel around the world with this IT best practices evangelist as he speaks on IT Service Management, IT Governance and ITIL trends

The World of IT Service Management Unites!

In my last blog I talked about Fusion 08. Surely an event of this magnitude is deserving of more than one posting!  The theme of the event, which I am proud to have chaired, was "uniting the world of ITSM." Fittingly, we had ITSM practitioners from all 50 states in the US, 22 countries worldwide and every major vertical.

The secret sauce to put on an event such as this-and for running any successful undertaking-is the people.  And for an industry event such as this, many of those people are volunteers.

Managing the dedicated event team that included volunteers from many itSMF USA member companies, itSMF USA staff and the conference partners underscored the realization that the most valuable resource any of us have is our people-they are assets to be valued above all others.

The Fusion08 team moved mountains and took to heart the theme of "uniting the world of ITSM."

This is not an all-inclusive list by any means but I'd like to thank:

  • Julie Sneed and Andy Atencio for leading the conference committee
  • Susan Trembly and the itSMF USA staff for all their diligence and preparation
  • Angelica King and Tom Bishop for coordination of some sensational keynotes
  • The speakers for all their hard work in preparing and delivering sessions
  • The itSMF USA Board of Directors for their support and faith during the year
  • Our conference partners Action Motivation, Inc. (AMI) and Burns Marketing Communications
  • The SFO itSMF USA Local Interest Group for their support

For the many I missed, please know that your efforts were appreciated!

Readers, I encourage all of you to get involved with professional organizations by attending meetings, serving on committees and helping put on small local events or large events like Fusion 08.  By volunteering, you are helping to advance best practices through knowledge sharing, educational and networking opportunities.

BTW, Fusion 09 is just a year a way. I'll be passing out sign-up sheets shortly...
